Gerry Martin, past RCA president, passes.


Gerry Martin, rower, coach, umpire, rowing advocate and friend of Canadian rowing, died this past weekend.

A member of Toronto’s Argonaut Rowing Club since the 1940’s, Gerry demonstrated his passion for rowing through a lifelong commitment to the sport.

Gerry held numerous positions throughout the years, including President of the Central Ontario Rowing Clubs, President of Rowing Canada Aviron as well as being a FISA (Fédération Internationale des Sociétés d’Aviron) umpire.

Additionally, in 2012 at the age of 82, Gerry was the oldest competitor registered at the provincial finals at the ROWONTARIO Masters Championships. He competed in the single.

Gerry was 84.

He will be greatly missed.
