TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Tallahassee Police Department has confirmed Florida State starting running back Karlos Williams is being investigated for an alleged domestic battery incident.
The FSU athletic department on Monday released a statement to the Tallahassee Democrat that said, “The Athletics Department is aware of an investigation by the Tallahassee Police Department involving football student-athlete Karlos Williams. Until we receive more information regarding the alleged incident his status with the team will be under review.
Williams is the second-ranked Seminoles’ leading rusher with 378 yards and seven touchdowns.
Police received the case Saturday night and assigned it to the Criminal Investigation Division. Williams has not been arrested or charged.
Tallahassee PD on Monday issued a a statement on Facebook that said, “The alleged crime is an active on-going investigation and Florida Law does not allow TPD to discuss the details of any case while it is on-going.
“Once the case is complete, it will be released under the guidelines of Florida Public Records Law.”
Williams is being represented by Tallahassee lawyer Tim Jansen, who declined comment on Monday.
Florida State plays at Louisville on Thursday night.
