“We are ready to host the 2015 Crescent Point Energy Western Canada Cup,” stated Len Clarke, President of the host Fort McMurray Oil Barons.  “The venue, the staff, the committees and the volunteers are gearing up to complete the final details. This will be a WCC like no other and we are proud to represent the AJHL and welcome the other provincial champions.”

It is a busy year in 2015 for the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo and this is the first major sporting event to kick off the year. To help the host committee kick off the tournament, all four League Commissioners were in attendance; including AJHL Commissioner Ryan Bartoshyk, BCHL Commissioner John Grisdale, SJHL President William (Bill) Chow, and MJHL Commissioner Kim Davis as well as the Chairman & President of the Canadian Junior Hockey League, Kirk Lamb.

“The Alberta Junior Hockey League is looking forward to continuing the momentum of this event established by the communities of Nanaimo and Dauphin, while showcasing the tremendous support of the Municipality of Wood Buffalo,” said Ryan Bartoshyk. “This event provides a platform for our Leagues and the community to excel and I have no doubt that all expectations of the experience will be exceeded.”

To coincide with the tournament, the Safway Events Tent will be setup adjacent to the Casman Centre Arena and will feature local and other Canadian musicians. The Safway Events Tent will also be used for an overflow of fans and will have all games streamed on live Web TV.

This tournament would not have been possible if it wasn’t for their sponsors: Diversified, RMWB, CEDA, Casman, Hertz & The Fort McMurray Hotel Chain.

The 2015 Crescent Point Energy Western Canada Cup will see champions of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL), British Columbia Junior Hockey League (BCHL), Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL), and Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) participate in a five-team tournament along with the host Fort McMurray Oil Barons compete for the Crescent Point Energy Western Canada Cup title. The Crescent Point Energy Western Canada Cup Champion and the runner-up will both represent Western Canada at the 2015 RBC Cup National Junior A Championship.  The 2015 RBC Cup will be hosted by the Portage Terriers of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.

Tickets for the tournament go on sale December 13th to the general public and can be purchased at the Oil Barons Box Office in Fort McMurray or online
