Montreal—- It was a disappointing night for the Redmen who lost to UQAM in a sudden-death semi final game to determine who would play for the RSEQ 2014 soccer championships.
Both UQAM’s goals came in the first half, by Simon-Pierre Cote-Kougnima and Mohamed Saidi, putting the Redmen in a hole they weren’t able to climb out of despite a flurry of chances and improved play in the second half.
“They are very strong,” said head coach Marc Mounicot of the UQAM squad.
Shots on net were close with Redmen goalie Max LeBlond, from Lille, France, turning away four shots compared to five by UQAM’s Nizar Houhou.

The Redmen finished the regular season in fourth place with a 5-6-1 record and will graduate four seniors, Alexander King, James Allester, Sebastian Munro and Massimo Di ioia.

UQAM will play Montreal in the RSEQ final on November 2nd. The CIS Men’s Soccer National Championships start November 9th in Charlottetown, PEI.
