(ISN) – The Princeton Posse made a big move signing Konnar Dechaine. Konnar who started the season with the Lloydminster Bobcats of the AJHL, and more recently with the Humboldt Broncos of the SJHL, spent last season with the Okanagan Hockey Academy’s Varsity team amassing 25 goals and 42 points in only 29 games.
Konnar is the second player from the Okanagan Hockey Academy’s Varsity team signed this week. Bailey Stephens was signed earlier from coach Robert Dirk’s squad. “It was a complete coincidence”, commented Assistant General Manager and Associate Coach Mark McNaughton. “At the time we signed Stephens, we had no indication or thought that Konnar would be available. It (Dechaine signing) all happened exceptionally fast and our focus at the time was on preparing for our game against North Okanagan”.
GM / Head Coach Bill Rotheisler commented, “As indicated in our last release, we put an exceptional amount of weight in players who are accustomed to the rigours of an Academy lifestyle. We appreciate the character players that come out of the academies, especially OHA”. Rotheisler continues, “Konnar is not only a character player, but also sets himself from the pack with his ability, work ethic and skillset. Konnar has the tools that will make him a top end player in this league, and ultimately beyond. We had a great talk when he became available, and it became very evident to both of us that would be a great fit for Princeton. We are very excited to welcome him to the Posse family”.
With the addition of a player, comes the subtraction of another. The Posse released Winfield’s Erik Dion. Rotheisler commented, “Erik was a great addition to the club and was easily the toughest decision we have had to make in a long time, especially off the heels of his best game of the season. He will be a great addition to another club at this level and we genuinely wish him the best”.
