(ISN) – Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Landon Bow of the Swift Current Broncos is the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending November 2 after posting a 1-0-0-1 record including a shutout victory with a goals-against-average of 0.48 and save percentage of .986.
Bow earns the award for the second time this season after allowing just one goal on 74 shots faced last week. On Friday night he made 30 saves to record his league-leading fourth shutout of the season earning first star honours in the 3-0 victory over the visiting Calgary Hitmen. Then on Saturday he turned aside 43 shots through regulation and overtime before the Broncos fell in a shootout to the Regina Pats by a 2-1 score with Bow receiving second star honours.
Bow, a 19-year-old from St. Albert, AB, is playing in his third WHL season with the Broncos. This season he holds a 10-5-0-2 record for the Broncos who are currently in second place in the WHL’s East Division with 22 points. Bow leads all WHL goaltenders with a .931 save percentage and also carries a 2.30 goals-against-average which ranks fifth best in the league.
Also considered for the award this week was Brandon Whitney of the Victoriaville Tigres with a 1-0-0-1 record posting a goals-against-average of 0.96 and save percentage of .962, and Jake Smith of the North Bay Battalion who went 2-0-0-1 with one shutout victory posting a goals-against-average of 1.14 and save percentage of .954.
