(ISN) – VICTORIA, B.C. – First-year University of Victoria Vikes women’s golfer Brianna Carrels earned her second-straight second place finish, this time at the Cougars Fall Classic Invitational hosted at Twin Oaks Golf Course in San Marcos, Calif. Carrels finished second in a field of 46 after shooting 6-over, 150 after two rounds. Previously, Carrels finished second overall the Victoria-hosted Vikes Shootout on Oct. 19-20.
The Vikes women finished fourth overall (76-over, 652) while Point Loma Nazarene were first at 37-over, 613. Hosts CSU-San Marcos finished second with a score of 62-over 638.
Carrels finished four strokes back of Embry-Riddle’s Lauren Kruszewski who continued her first-placed trend from day one after a 72-74 two-round score of 2-over, 146. Carrels was steady shooting 75 on both days, while Redland’s Caroline Ordian and Point Loma’s Samantha Stockton finished tied for third (7-over, 151).
Michaela Abey was also consistent shooting 81 on both days to finish with a two-round score of 162, tied for 11th. Senior Cari Chow finished tied for 27 after shooting 86 in round 2 for a final score of 169. Shannon Raina finished with a 171, while Emily Nicol carded a 182.
Nicol recorded four birdies over the weekend, while Carrels shot par on 25 holes.
The Cougars Fall Classic is the final event for the Vikes women’s golf team until 2015.
