Stingers shut door, end 57-game skid against top-ranked Martlet pucksters

Box Score MONTREAL — An early power-play goal by centre Marie-Pier Cloutier stood up as Concordia hung on and stunned No.1-ranked McGill 1-0 in RSEQ women’s hockey on “Score With School” day, a rare morning tilt at McConnell Arena, Friday.

The loss snapped McGill’s 57-game overall win streak against the Stingers, dating back to a 2-1 road loss at Concordia on Feb. 5, 2006.

McGill outshot the Stingers 27-15 as Concordia goaltender Briar Bache was rock solid with a 27-save shutout, improving to 2-1. Taylor Hough registered 14 saves and took the loss to even her record at 1-1.

Concordia, which improved to 2-1-1, will play at Carleton (1-3-0) on Saturday at 2 p.m., while the Martlets (3-1-0) will follow them into the nation’s capital and play the Ravens on Sunday at 2 p.m.
