(ISN) – Prince George, BC- The Victoria Royals were unable to comeback from a third period two goal deficit in a 3-2 defeat to the Prince George Cougars on Friday night.
The Royals trailed 2-0 after two periods of play before the teams exchanged goals in the third period. Brandon Magee and Austin Carroll scored for Victoria on the powerplay while Jansen Harkins scored the game winner for Prince George. The Royals had chances to tie the game late in the third period when the Cougars ran into penalty trouble, but were unable to capitalize. Jari Erricson and Chance Braid got the other tallies for Prince George.
Royals’ goaltender Jayden Sittler turned away 21 out of 24 shots in his first career WHL start. Cougars’ netminder Ty Edmonds made 23 saves on 25 shots for the win.
Victoria went 2/6=33.3% on the powerplay, while the Prince George went 1/4=25.0%.
Victoria will wrap up their two game series in Prince George tomorrow night at CN Centre against the Cougars. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
