Victoria scores four unanswered goals in 6-2 victory

(ISN) – Prince George, BC- The Victoria Royals scored two shorthanded goals en route to a 6-2 win over the Prince George Cougars on Saturday night, with Austin Carroll scoring the game winner.

The Royals scored three goals in the second period, including a shorthanded tally by Regan Nagy to break a 2-2 tie. Victoria’s other markers were scored by Brandon Magee shorthanded and Taylor Crunk in the first period, while Jack Walker tallied in the middle frame. Rookie Ralph Jarratt scored his first career WHL goal in the third to round out the scoring. Prince George had goals from David Soltes and Tate Olson.

With a goal and an assist, Magee has recorded at least a point in all nine games (6g-10a) he has played in this season. Joe Hicketts registered two assists to put his point streak (1g-8a) to six games.

Coleman Vollrath stopped 23 of 25 shots for the Royals, while Ty Edmonds and Jared Rathjen stopped 14 of 18 and 14 of 16 shots respectively for the Cougars.

The Royals went 0/5=0.0% with the extra attacker, while the Cougars went 2/8=25.0%.

Victoria will end their road trip against the Tri-City Americans on Friday, November 14th at 7:05 p.m. and the Vancouver Giants on Saturday, November 15th at 7:00 p.m.
