Kiley DeLong of the University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds women’s basketball team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport female athlete of the week for the week ending Nov. 9, 2014.
A fourth-year engineering student from St. John’s, Nfld., DeLong was an integral part of two weekend wins for the Varsity Reds versus the Acadia Axewomen.
In Friday’s 60-54 win, the forward had 10 points and added eight rebounds. She posted a double-double in Saturday’s 72-53 win, collecting 14 points to go along with 12 rebounds and three steals.

Sport: Men’s Soccer
Hometown: Winsloe, P.E.I.
Year of eligibility: Fifth
Academic program: BBA
Jared Murphy of the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers men’s soccer team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport male athlete of the week for the week ending Nov. 9, 2014.
A fifth-year business student from Winsloe, P.E.I., Murphy was named to the 2014 CIS men’s soccer championship all-star team following his performance this past weekend in Charlottetown.
The striker scored the game-winning goal in both of the Panthers’ weekend wins. He netted the first goal in overtime during UPEI’s 2-0 win over the Saskatchewan Huskies in the championship quarterfinal Thursday.
After posting two shots on goal in the Panthers’ 1-0 semifinal loss to the York Lions Friday, Murphy went on to post another game-winning goal Saturday versus UQAM. UPEI won by a score of 2-1 to secure the CIS bronze medal.
