(ISN) – VICTORIA- The University of Victoria Vikes men’s rugby team will take on the Burnaby Lake RC at home on Wallace field on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 2:30 p.m.
The Vikes are currently in third-place in the CDI premier league standings with 18 points and post 4-1-0 record following an away win over the Capilanos last week. Burnaby Lake posts a 3-1-1 record but sit one point above the Vikes due to bonus points. At the top of the table with 19 points is UBC (4-1-0), which have been the lone team to defeat the Vikes in the CDI premier league so far this season.
“Burnaby Lake is an accomplished team and ended up winning the league last year,” said Vikes men’s rugby assistant coach Rick Farrally. ” This is a big game for us and the standings are very tight.”
Burnaby Lake and UBC seperate the Vikes by just one point in the battle for first place.
Leading the team in points is second-year Guiseppe duToit , who has scored 30 points (6 PK, 10C) and is followed by fellow second-year Macbryan Bos with 15 points (3 tries). Bos earned a try to contribue to the score against the Capilanos last week while duToit scored a penalty kick.
“Team defense is what won our game last weekend,” added Farrally. ” We are well rounded and everyone is contributing.”
Kick off is set for 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15 at Wallace Field.
