PACWEST BASKETBALL ACTION at the Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence

(ISN) – The Camosun College Chargers welcomed a roaring home crowd to the Pacifiic Institute for Sport Excellence this evening as the men and women tipped off their 2014-15 season home openers against the Capilano University Blues.

In women’s action, newly appointed Head Coach Carl Macdonald picked up his first home win with the Chargers program with a 75-70 victory over the Blues, moving the squad to a record of 2-2.

First-year post Ali Cooper (Oak Bay) led the Chargers to tonight’s win, racking up an impressive 25 points and 11 rebounds. Fourth-year guard Ella Goldschmid (Mt. Doug) also had a great night putting up 15 points.

The Chargers men, who were looking for their first “w” of the season, made a monstrous 92-62 win over the Blues; they now stand at 1-3.

Second-year guard Andrew Larson (Cowichan) was the lead man for the Chargers men posting 17 points plus one rebound. Third-year forward James Giuffre (Esquimalt) put in a great performance with his 12 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists.

Chargers basketball action continues tomorrow at PISE as the Chargers face the Quest University Kermodes. Women 1pm; Men 3pm.
