Pete Adrian retired Monday as head football coach at Norfolk State.

Adrian, 66, went 54-60 overall (.474) and 37-43 in the MEAC (.463) after being named the historically black college’s first white head football coach in 2005.

He has served as an assistant in the defunct XFL and at Bethune-Cookman, Rhode Island and Idaho State. Adrian was the head coach at Bloomsburg from 1986-92, compiling a record of 36-37-1.

No replacement has been named, and athletic director Marty Miller said a search for a new coach will begin immediately.
