RCA 2015 National Conference and Annual Meeting coming to BC

National Conference and Annual Meeting are in BC this year.  Pictured is Buttle Lake, one of the training sites in BC for the men’s team.

Rowing Canada Aviron’s (RCA) National Conference will take place January 22 – 24, 2015 in Burnaby, British Columbia.

Leaders from Canada and abroad in the fields of rowing, sport science and sport management will be attending.

The keynote speaker this year will be Mark Hunter, gold medalist at the 2008 Beijing Games and silver medalist at the 2012 London Olympics in the lightweight men’s double.  Hunter will be attending all three days of the conference.

This year’s dialogue will focus on “Laying the Foundation… A Pathway to Excellence.”  Experts in their respective fields will be sharing their insights in order to give the Canadian rowing community the tools they need to lay a strong foundation in an attempt to foster excellence.

For their part, the team from Hudson Boat Works will be contributing with a new workshop this year. The Rowing BC sponsored Hudson Boat Works Boat Repair Workshop will allow the specialists from the boat company to share tips on dealing with some of the most common equipment breakdown issues. This specific component of the conference was requested by the rowing community in BC in order to provide local clubs with the knowledge to be more self-sufficient in the area of boat repairs and maintenance.

The three-day conference will culminate with Rowing Canada Aviron’s 34th Annual Awards Banquet on the evening of Saturday, the 24th

The weekend will conclude with Rowing Canada Aviron’s 2015 Annual Meeting on Sunday, January 25th, 2015.
