One of the top competition climbing venues in the world, The Boulders was host to the 2013 IFSC World Youth Climbing Championships, as well as the 2013 Canadian Nationals and 2013 and 2014 BC Provincial Speed and Difficulty Climbing Championships. This facility continues to be a draw for climbers from all over the world, and over the next year The Boulders will be hosting a number of high profile events, including:

January 10-11, 2015 – Sport Climbing Association of British Columbia (SCBC) Sanctioned Competition: This will be a triple-header event, with competition in all three disciplines of sport climbing: difficulty (lead), speed and bouldering. Top climbers from across British Columbia and the Pacific Northwest are expected to attend.

February 20-22, 2015 – International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) World Climbing Camp: This event will see the top 12 climbers in the world in both lead (difficulty) and speed come to the Boulders to teach athletes who wish to hone their skills, and learn more about competition climbing. The event will be open to 100 athletes, ages 13 to adults. This is the first time the IFSC has held an official training camp, and the Boulders is honoured to be the first host. April 24-26, 2015 – SCBC Provincial Sport Climbing Championships, Difficulty and Speed: This competition is the culmination of the SCBC Sport Climbing season in difficulty (lead) and speed and will feature the top climbers in the Province. This will be the third season in a row that the Provincial Championships are being hosted at The Boulders.

May 16-18, 2015 – Climbing Escalade Canada (CEC) National Climbing Championships, Difficulty and Speed: The Canadian Difficulty (lead) and Speed Nationals return to The Boulders following the 2014 Nationals in Montreal. Top climbers from across the country will be competing.

May 17, 2015 – IFSC Speed World Cup – In conjunction with the 2015 Canadian Nationals, The Boulders will be hosting an IFSC World Cup Speed Climbing event. This will be the first time that an IFSC Speed World Cup event has been held outside of Europe or Asia, and will feature the top speed climbers in the world including Libor Hroza from the Czech Republic, a former world record holder in the event who has been training at The Boulders over the past year.

“Our reputation as a world class climbing facility continues to grow and we are very excited to be hosting these high profile events,” said Boulders Chair Jarzebiak. “In particular, the two IFSC events – the World Climbing Camp in February and the Speed World Cup in May – will bring the top climbers in the world to our facility and set the stage for us to host additional international events in the future.”
