RBC Sports Day in Canada, presented by ParticipACTION, CBC and True Sport, is a national celebration demonstrating the power that sport has to build community as well as to get Canadians moving.

The fifth annual event will take place on Saturday, November 29th in communities from coast to coast to coast.

Rowing Canada Aviron (RCA) harnessed the spirit of the day by sponsoring and promoting a contest with the aim of introducing Canadians at the grassroots level to the benefits of indoor rowing.

Rowing clubs were given the chance to organize an indoor rowing event under the RBC Sports Day in Canada banner.  Participating clubs will then be entered for a chance to win an Edon TS515 sculling boat.  In order to win the prize however, clubs must send a video of their day to RCA.

This event gives local clubs the opportunity to increase awareness of their sport as well as promote the important role that they play in their communities.  It is also a good opportunity to recruit new athletes and promote participation.

Rowing clubs creating events in partnership with RBC’s Sport Day in Canada include:

Power Up with Rowing PEI, Charlottetown, PEI

Row your Way to Fitness For Life, Duncan, BC

Go! ErgO’FIT! Portes ouvertes – Open House, Laval, QC

Fun, Fitness and Friends!, Belleville, ON

Adventure Day, Peterborough, ON

Rame ton fleuve! en collaboration avec Rowing Canada Aviron, Québec, QC

Rowing Introduction, Langley, BC

These events have been going on all week, with a majority of them taking place on Saturday, November 29th, 2014.

The lucky club that wins the Edon TS515 sculling boat will be contacted by RCA.
