Junior Rugby Recap
This has been a great year for our Velox Junior Teams.
U18 Men – Congratulations to the U18 Men for winning the Plate Final last Sunday vs Burnaby 28 – 21. Way to finish a very successful season for this program. Special thank you goes out to Phil Ohl, Mua Va’a and Victoria Martin. Next year we are going for the CUP!
U18 Women – Our new and developmental U18/U16 Women’s program has been participating in a joint team with CW. In a controversial island final that had Cowichan borrowing players from our team it was decided that the Velox/CW team would move forward to the final vs Abbottsford this Sunday. The future of women’s rugby at our club is very bright. This is a first ever for the island and for Velox. Special thank you goes to Selina McGinnis, Cory Walker and Erin McGinnis. You have done an excellent job developing their skills and keeping them engaged this season.
U16 Men – The U16 Men lost their semi-final game vs Capilano last weekend, but you will not want to miss the third place game this Sunday at Wallace vs CW. These two teams have a heated history and a win in this game will speak volumes. Please come out to Wallance at 1pm this Sunday to cheer on U16 Men and help them finish the season on a high note. Special thank you to Jake Duraan, Mike Pletch and Melissa Ngawati.
U14 Men – The U14 Men have been silent but a deadly group of young men. The potential in this age group is exciting. They have had a winning season and finished off last weekend with a final jamboree in Cowichan, Special thank you to Craig White, Steve Stern and Jennifer Walinga for your dedicated time and commitment developing the young men. Velox has some of the best volunteers in the province.
