(ISN) – Kamloops, BC- The Victoria Royals scored two goals 18 seconds apart in the final frame for a 5-3 victory Saturday night at the Interior Savings Centre in Kamloops.
The Royals twice in the game scored goals in under 20 seconds. Victoria’s Austin Carroll and Taylor Crunk tallied goals 18 seconds apart in the third stanza to seal the victory. Travis Brown and Carroll scored two goals in 13 seconds in the opening 1:11 of the game for the Royals. Greg Chase notched a powerplay marker to give Victoria a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes. Kamloops scored three consecutive goals in the second and third periods to tie the game 3-3 before giving up the two quick markers. Kamloops’ goal scorers were Collin Shirley, Josh Connolly and Matt Needham.
Coleman Vollrath turned aside 25 of 28 shots for Victoria. Kamloops’ netminder Cole Kehler stopped 27 of 32 shots.
On the powerplay Victoria went 1/4=25%, while Kamloops went 1/5=20%.
Victoria returns home to begin a four game homestand Tuesday, December 2nd against the Portland Winterhawks. Puck drop is at 7:05 p.m.
