(ISN) – Breckenridge, CO – There will be two Canadians competing when the Dew Tour men’s halfpipe final takes place in Breckenridge, Colorado on Saturday, December 13th at 5:00 pm EST.

Simon D’Artois and Mike Riddle finished fifth and sixth respectively out of the 29-man field to qualify. Riddle earned an impressive 86.75 during his first run out of the gate to score the highest point total of that round. The mark was good enough for him to choose to rest and not attempt a second run.

“I wanted to go out and put a run down to get me into the final,” said Riddle, who is nursing a bruised hip. “When my turn for the second run came, I knew I was still in fourth and I could get bumped down a couple spots. But I was still locked in for the final regardless. I’m feeling really good.”

D’Artois struggled on his first run with a score of 47.25, but shook things off quickly to score a 87.25 his next time up.

“It was an amazing day and it’s warm here,” said D’Artois. “I fell on my first go, but I was able to put down a strong second run…all in all it was a very difficult run, but I couldn’t be happier to make it into the final.”

In today’s women’s halfpipe final, Roz Groenewoud scored a high of 75.50 – good enough for sixth place.

“I struggled a little bit on both my runs,” said Groenewoud. “I’m not super pleased with it, but it’s the beginning of the season and we’re trying to figure things out.”

Along with the men’s halfpipe final, Saturday will also feature the women’s slopestyle final taking please at 3:30 pm EST. Anouk Purnell-Faniel and Kim Lamarre will be competing for Canada.
