Bill Schenck, pictured here with his wife Kathleen, has been appointed to the FISA Events Commission.
Yesterday, Rowing Canada Aviron (RCA) was informed of the appointment of three Canadians into key FISA Commissions.
Firstly, as appointed by the FISA Council, Bill Schenck, Commissioner of the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta, has been named to the FISA Events Commission.
Along with Tricia Smith, Vice President of FISA, Dr. Mike Wilkinson, member of the FISA Medical Commission, and Iain Brambell, member of the FISA Athletes Commission, RCA now has six representatives at an international federation level. In addition to this, Andréanne Morin was recently appointed to a second term as an athlete representative to the World Anti Doping Agency (WADA).
“I congratulate Bill, Rebecca and Peter on their new appointments,” said Rowing Canada Aviron President, Mike Walker. “Not only do these appointments speak highly of the expertise and experience of Bill, Rebecca and Peter, but also is an indication of the trust and respect that has been earned by Canadian rowing from our international peers.”
These specialist commissions are each represented on the FISA Council by their chair and appointments are for four-year terms, starting January 1, 2015, until December 31, 2018.
