Looking to get back to their recent winning ways after getting shut out in the final game before the NHL’s three-night Christmas break, Lindy Ruff’s Dallas Stars (14-14-5) are on the road on Saturday to take on Ken Hitchcock’s St. Louis Blues (21-10-3). Game time is 7:00 p.m. CST. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Southwest.
This is the second of five meetings between the teams this season. They will rematch in St. Louis on Feb. 17 and in Dallas on March 15 and April 3. On Oct. 28, the Blues captured a 4-3 overtime win at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.
Both the Stars and Blues got shut out in their last games. The Stars fell, 4-0, to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday. The Blues, who stumbled through an 0-2-1 road trip, got blanked 5-0 in Colorado.
On the Dallas injury front, Patrick Eaves (ankle), Valeri Nichushkin (hip surgery) and Patrik Nemeth (severe forearm laceration) remain on injured reserve. For St. Louis, goalie Brian Elliott (knee), defenseman Carl Gunnarsson (concussion) and forwad Jaden Schwartz (foot) are all out of the lineup.
Exiting the holiday break, the Blues are in third place in the Central Division, three points behind first-place Chicago and one behind Nashville. The Stars are currently eight points out of the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
