(ISN) – The Cariboo Cougars improved to 2 wins and 1 loss at the Mac’s Midget AAA Hockey Tournament in Calgary on Monday evening. The Cats won a hard fought 3-1 victory over the Battleford Stars from Saskatchewan with goals from Jesse Pomeroy (ES), Justin Almeida (PP), and Steven Jandric (SH), and got solid goaltending from Griffen Outhouse.

The Cariboo Cougars final round robin game goes tomorrow at 1:30PST, against the Waxers, from Markham, Ont. The Cats are in the hunt for a playoff berth, but will need a convincing win tomorrow in order to have a chance to move on. Despite his team’s win today, Coach and GM Trevor Sprague said his team has yet to turn in a full 60 minute effort, and hopes they are able to put together three strong periods against the Waxers.
