Huskies win six medals at Cougar Open

(ISN) – The University of Saskatchewan Huskie wrestling team won six medals at the annual University of Regina-hosted Cougar Open Sunday.

The medal haul by the Huskies included four golds, one silver and one bronze.

Winning gold for Saskatchewan was Silke Svenkeson in the women’s 51-kg weight class, Dylan Bray in the 57-kg, Josh Bodnarchuk in the 61-kg and Andrew Johnson in 90-kg. Riel Parisien finished with a silver in the 68-kg class, while Mojaba Kaviani added bronze in the 76-kg class. Jacob Phillips finished fourth in the 120-kg class.

As a team, the Huskies finished second among varsity squads on both the men and women’s side.

The Huskies travel to Edmonton for the Golden Bear Open on January 10.
