(ISN) – PENTICTON, BC –With the January 10th roster deadline approaching, the Penticton Vees have announced they’ve traded defenseman Connor Russell (96) to the Cowichan Valley Capitals for future considerations.
The move gets the Vees roster down to the mandated 22 players ahead Saturday’s Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) deadline.
Russell, 18, was in his first BCHL season with the Vees, as the stay-at-home defenseman dressed in 27 games picking up a goal and six points. The Guelph, Ontario product scored his first career BCHL goal on October 31st in an 11-0 romp over the Surrey Eagles. “Rusty” as he’s known affectionately by his teammates, came to the Vees after playing at Northwood Prep school in Lake Placid, New York. The 6’2, 190 pound blue-liner was one of the top defensive-defenseman on his prep team.
The Penticton Vees would like to thank Connor for his significant contributions on the ice and in the community of Penticton. The Vees wish Connor all the best in his feature with the Capitals.
