Sylla nets “double-double”, scores 500th career point as Martlets swamp Gaiters, stretch win streak to five

MONTREAL — Mariam Sylla notched a “double-double”, including her 500th career point in regular season play as No.3-ranked McGill swamped the Bishop’s Gaiters 85-30 in CIS women’s basketball at Love Competition Hall, Thursday.  It was the highest offensive output and the best defensive performance of the season for the Martlets, who stretched their win streak to five and improved their unblemished RSEQ conference record to 5-0.

Sylla, a 6-foot-1 junior forward who hails from Conakry, Guineau, entered the game with 491 career points in RSEQ play. She tallied a dozen with a 4-for-11 shooting performance and went 4-for-5 from the free-throw line. She added a game-high 13 rebounds with one steal and a blocked shot in only 17 minutes of court-time.
