(ISN) – The Alberni Valley Bulldogs finished their 3-game Interior road trip by taking a bite out of the West Kelowna Warriors on Sunday afternoon with a 4-2 victory.
The Warriors started slow in the opening period but did get the first goal after Brayden Gelsinger snapped home a wrister. It was the first shot on goal for West Kelowna after the Bulldogs opened up a 9-0 lead in that department.
The Bulldogs would get the next two goals, as Chris Schutz scored on a nice passing play to tie it at 1, then late in the period Dylan Haugen broke in on a breakaway and beat Andy Desautels five-hole for a 2-1 lead. Shots were 16-5 Alberni Valley.
The 2nd period would see the Warriors tie it up at 2 on the power-play on a goal from Andrew Johnson, but the Bulldogs got a goal of their own back as Tyler Povelofskie tipped in a Drew Weich point-shot.
The final frame would see West Kelowna come alive, as they directed 19 shots towards Billy Christopoulous, but it was the Bulldogs who got the lone goal from Schutz, who earned 1st star for his 2 goal performance.
Desautels made 33 saves in the Warriors net, as West Kelowna got out-shot 37-27 on the night, after only generating 8 shots through 40 minutes.
