Ottawa, Ont, Jan. 9, 2015 — Canadian Paralympian Jody Schloss won the Grade Ia Team Test at the CPEDI3* Global Dressage Festival I presented by Adequan, held at The Stadium at Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington, Fla., Jan. 9-11, 2015.

Posting Canada’s first win in 2015, Schloss, of Toronto, Ont., entered the ring on her long-time partner and 2012 Paralympic mount Inspector Rebus (Sambertino x Darwin), her 17-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding.

They earned a score of 68.261% for the victory.

“Rebus was such a good boy today, and I am so happy with my test,” said Schloss. “I would like to thank my personal coach, Jessica Rhinelander, who has been working very hard to prepare us for this competition with the goal of improving our accuracy, which really paid off in today’s test.”
Also competing for Canada in the Grade Ia Team Test was Robyn Andrews and her 2014 World Equestrian Games mare 14-year-old Fancianna, a Friesian-Andalusian cross. The duo placed third, scoring 65.145%.

“I am really proud of Fancy,” said Andrews, who is from St. Johns, N.L. “I am very happy today with my test and thrilled with the accomplishments I have made in a few short weeks with my new coach, Amanda Kalvoda.”
Double individual medalist at the 2014 World Equestrian Games, Lauren Barwick of Aldergrove, BC, rode her 16-year-old Oldenburg mare, Ferdonia 2 (Don Gregory x Castro), and finished in second place in the Grade II Team Test with a score of  72.157%.

“I was planning on retiring Fergie (Ferdonia 2) from international competition, but I took this impromptu opportunity to bring her to this CPEDI and I am really pleased with her performance,” said Barwick, who loaned Ferdonia 2 to Canadian teammate Ashley Gowanlock for the 2014 Games.
The ground jury for today’s event consisted of Freddy Layman (BEL), Kjell Myhre (NOR) and Kristi Wysocki (USA).

The competition continues tomorrow with the Individual Championship Tests for all Grades. Complete results may be found here.
