Dalhousie announces our G2 Athletes of the Week


(ISN) – (Halifax, NS) Dalhousie University presents our G2 Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, January 11, 2015.


Mieke Dumont, Volleyball

First-year left side hitter Mieke Dumont is this week’s G2 Female Athlete of the Week.

Dumont led the Tigers to a 3-0 victory over the visiting Acadia Axewomen on Sunday at Dalplex. She notched 11 kills and eight digs, recording 12.0 points in the match. She’s currently second in kills and digs for the Tigers, in just her first season wearing the black and gold.

A kinesiology student, Mieke is from Kamloops, BC.

Devon Stedman, Basketball
Third-year forward Devon Stedman is this week’s G2 Male Athlete of the Week.

Before suffering a season-ending knee injury during Friday night’s game in Charlottetown, PE, Stedman had scored eight points, pulled down two rebounds and recorded an assist and steal in just 12 minutes of play against the Panthers.

Stedman played in five regular season games before sustaining the injury. Averaging 25 minutes of court time, he was averaging eight points per game and shooting 87.5% (second best on the team).

A native of Ottawa, O.N., Stedman is a commerce student.
