(ISN) – Vancouver, BC – Four teams have grabbed the last remaining spots at the 2015 Canadian Direct Insurance BC Men’s Curling Championship.
The complete line-up for the Championship was decided late on Sunday evening when the Open Event, which saw 16 teams battle it out for the final spaces, drew to a close at Peace Arch Curling Club in White Rock.
Teams from across the province were successful with curlers from Victoria, New Westminster, Langley and Vernon securing berths.
The A event winner was Team Joanisse who play out of Royal City Curling Club. The team will be no strangers to the Championship as all of them competed at the 2014 event. The rink is made up of skip Dean Joanisse, third Paul Cseke, second Jay Wakefield and lead John Cullen.
The B event winner was Team Wenzek who will be the youngest team at the 2015 Championship. The team, which is skipped by Daniel Wenzek, consists of curlers from Royal City Curling Club, Langley Curling Club and Victoria Curling Centre. Curling alongside Wenzek are third Nicholas Meister, second Calvin Heels and lead Byron Heels.
The two winners of the C event were Team Longworth, from Vernon Curling Club, and Team Craig from the Victoria Curling Centre.
Team Longworth, which is made up of skip Mark Longworth, third Michael Longworth, second Jonathan Gardner and lead John Slattery, should feel at home at the Championship as the event is being held at Vernon Curling Club.
Skip Wes Craig, who recently came fourth at the 2014 Canadian Mixed Curling Championships, is joined by third Scott MacDonald, second Tony Anslow and lead Victor Gamble.
These teams will join the 12 other teams who have already qualified including reigning champions Team Cotter.
The 2015 Canadian Direct Insurance BC Men’s Curling Championship will take place at the Vernon Curling Club from February 3-8, 2015.
