(ISN) – VICTORIA, B.C. – It is with great sadness that the University of Victoria Vikes Athletics and Recreation department acknowledge the sudden passing and loss of Eirin Elizabeth Amundsen on Jan. 7. Amundsen was a member of the Vikes women’s soccer program in the mid-90’s and passed away after an accident on the Crowsnest Highway in southern Alberta.
“I was very saddened to hear this tragic news,” said Ian Bridge, who was head coach of the Vikes women’s soccer program when Amundsen competed. “I can still remember her smiling face on the field. She was almost always the hardest worker at training and one of the best Vikes we had at the beginning of a young program.”
Amundsen was a defender for the Vikes program and will be greatly missed by her team mates and the Vikes community. A service for Eirin will be held on Jan. 14 at Mountainside Community Church in Fernie, B.C. at 2:00 p.m. For more information click here.
