PACWEST rises to top rankings across the CCAA

(ISN)  – PACWEST teams occupied several spots close to the top of this weeks rankings across the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), including #1 in both men’s basketball and men’s volleyball.

The VIU Mariners men held onto the top position in men’s basketball after a 79-71 win over the Camosun Chargers moved them to 8-0 in league play. Other ranked PACWEST teams included the Quest Kermodes up to #5, and the Langara Falcons holding at #9.
The Douglas College Royals occupy top spot in men’s volleyball, taking over from the Red Deer Kings who dropped to #3. The Royals won both their matches versus the UFV Cascades last weekend. The idle VIU Mariners maintained their #4 ranking, while the Camosun Chargers, also idle last weekend, dropped one spot from #11 to #12.
In women’s volleyball, the PACWEST owns two of the top four spots, and has three teams in the top 10. The Capilano Blues are the top ranked PACWEST team at #3, while the Camosun Chargers are at #4. The UFV Cascades are #9, and the VIU Mariners are #14.
Finally, in women’s basketball, the Quest Kermodes are the top ranked PACWEST team at #5, followed by the VIU Mariners at #9. The Douglas Royals are ranked #14. There were no changes in the women’s basketball rankings.
In badminton team rankings, the VIU Mariners are ranked #2 in the CCAA, the Kwantlen Eagles are #6, and the Langara Falcons are #10. The next PACWEST badminton tournament is scheduled for January 31st in Coquitlam.
