(ISN) – EVERETT,- Everett Silvertips goaltender Austin Lotz made 31 saves to lead his team to a 6-0 shutout of the Seattle Thunderbirds Saturday night at Xfinity Arena in Everett.
The T-Birds are now 22-17-2-3 and in fourth place in the US Division, one point behind the third place Spokane Chiefs.
The T-Birds next game is Friday, January 23, against the Tri-City Americans in Kennewick at 7:05pm. They host the Portland Winterhawks on Saturday, January 24, at 7:05pm. This game is the annual Fred Meyer Teddy Bear Toss presented by WARM 106.9 FM.
The teams skated to a scoreless first period with the T-Birds outshooting the Silvertips 9-7. No penalties were called in the period.
Everett (28-12-3-1) went in front 1-0 at 4:38 of the second period. Jake Mykitiuk put a rebound past Seattle goalie Taran Kozun from on top of the crease. Nikita Scherbak had the initial and Remi Laurencelle had the second assist.
Ivan Nikolishin scored a power-play goal with 39 seconds left in the second to give the Silvertips a 2-0 lead. Carson Stadnyk and Patrick Bajkov had the assists.
The Silvertips led in shots 22-17 after two periods by outshooting the T-Bird 15-8 in the period.
Bauml scored from a sharp angle to the left of the goal 40 seconds into the third period to extend the Silvertips lead to 3-0. Stadnyk had the assist when he sent the puck to Bauml from behind the T-Birds net.
Scherbak scored at 6:36 of the third make it a 4-0 Everett lead. Laurencelle and Noah Juulsen had the assists.
Everett’s fifth goal was scored by Dawson Leedahl at 15:11 on the power play while Stadnyk got the sixth goal, at 17:32.
Kozun was replaced by Danny Mumaugh after Everett’s fifth goal. He made 28 saves on 33 shots and his record is now 20-12-2-3. Mumaugh stopped one of two shots he faced.
Lotz is now 19-9-1-1.
