(ISN) – Calgary, AB – The WHL’s Business Development and Arena Conference is set to begin Sunday in Calgary.
The 90 delegates, consisting of WHL marketing directors and arena managers from all 22 WHL Clubs, will gather in Calgary to share best practices in an ongoing effort to further enhance the fan experience. This WHL Business Development and Arena Conference has been a biannual event since 2003.
“The WHL Business Development and Arena Conference provides an opportunity for all WHL Club marketing directors and arena managers to review best practices and participate in a series of professional development sessions,” WHL Commissioner Ron Robison commented. “The primary objective of the conference is to continue building a spirit of partnership between WHL Clubs and arenas to further improve our overall fan experience and attendance.”
The Business Development portion of the conference will be spearheaded by the WHL and the Kelowna Rockets’ Gavin Hamilton.
“The conference is a great opportunity for WHL marketing directors and arena managers to come together and continue striving to enhance the fan experience,” Hamilton, Vice-President of Business Operations for the Kelowna Rockets and Chair of the WHL Business Advisory Committee.
Some of the topics covered at the conference will include ticket sales, broadcast and arena standards, joint venture opportunities, team and facility relationships, customer service and sustainability.
“The purpose of the Western Hockey League’s Business Development and Arena Conference is to provide an opportunity for representatives of all member Clubs and arenas to meet for the purpose of exchanging ideas and practices with the objective of improving the league for all involved,” noted Will Lofdahl, CEO of SaskTel Centre and Chair of the WHL Arena Advisory Committee. “Those involved include the teams, arenas, players and most importantly the fans whose level of support determines just how successful the League will be.”
In addition, special guests at the conference will include Steve DeLay, Managing Director of SRO Partners, LLC, and Greg Overstreet, Branch Manager for Contemporary Services Corporation.
