(ISN) – Prince George, BC—The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack women’s basketball team has enlarged their lead atop of the Canada West Explorers Division.
The WolfPack swept the University of Northern British Columbia Timberwolves on their home court—winning Saturday (Jan 17) 75-53.
The WolfPack are 11-1 on the year while UNBC falls to 1-11.
“Nice to shoot the ball well and get the sweep in the road,” said WolfPack head coach Scott Reeves.” Everyone was able to contribute and that’s always nice. Really proud of our team and now it’s time to focus on next weekend”.
Sarah Malate (fourth year, guard, Calgary, AB) led the offense for TRU with 15 points.
Taiysa Worsfold (fourth year, guard, Kamloops, BC0 added 13 points while Jorri Duxbury (fifth year, guard, Salmon Arm, BC) contributed 10.
Michelle Bos (first year, guard, Surrey, BC) had 11 rebounds as did Emma Piggin (first year, guard, Kamloops, BC).
UNBC was led by Vasiliki Louka who had 16 points. Sarah Robin contributed 10.
The WolfPack jumped out to a 21-14 lead after the first quarter and had a 42-25 advantage at the half.
Thompson Rivers is back home for games January 23-24 th at the Tournament Capital Centre against the MacEwan University Griffins. Tip off both nights will be 6 pm.
