(ISN) – Edmonton, AB- The Victoria Royals overcame a third period Edmonton Oil Kings’ comeback en route to a 4-3 overtime victory at Rexall Place to sweep their three game Alberta road trip.
Victoria’s Greg Chase notched the game winner in overtime after Edmonton scored two goals in 10 seconds in the third stanza to force extra time.
Royals’ forward Brandon Magee set a new all-time franchise record in points at 242 (104g-138a) when he assisted on Alex Forsberg’s opening game goal. Victoria’s other tallies were scored by Chase and Jack Walker on the powerplay. Oil Kings’ markers were scored by Davis Koch, Lane Bauer and Luke Bertolucci.
Royals’ netminder Justin Paulic stopped 37 of the 40 shots directed at him. Oil Kings’ goaltender Tristan Jarry turned away 26 out of 30 shots.
Victoria went 2/7 = 28.5% with the man advantage, while Edmonton went 1/7=14.2%.
The Royals will now head back home to begin a two game home series against the Kamloops Blazers on Friday, January 23rd at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, January 24th at 7:05 p.m.
