Not Bored Enough to Harp on Rumours
By Jay Blue
So there are some rumours flying around the Blue Jays lately but, honestly, I just haven’t been able to muster up the energy to actually really engage with any of them.
I’ve also been a little busy. If you haven’t noticed, Blue Jays from Away looks a little different than it did a couple of days ago. Consider it Phase One of a site retool that will take us up to baseball season. We’ve deliberately retained all of the functionality that we had before, it just looks a little different.
Along with the new look, we’re going to rotate our Blue Jays from Away #coverboy from time to time, so tweet at us (@JaysFromAway) or comment on Facebook with your pick for whose pic to have on the front page with the convenient hashtag so we’ll know that you’re not just randomly spouting players’ names. If you’re linking to this article via Twitter or Facebook (or somewhere else), just click on “Home” in the menu bar and you’ll see what I’m talking about. That’s Rob Rasmussen on the cover, folks. A nice fella and an underrated bullpen lefty.
On to the rumours that I’m ignoring.
Rumour A – Dan Duquette – will he or won’t? (Answer: Not this year.)
Rumour B – James Shields – will he or won’t he? (Answer: Probably not.) Any other ones that I’m missing? That’s what the comments box is for.
Actual news: Totally under the radar – the Blue Jays re-signed Melky Mesa to a minor league deal. He joined the Jays after a trade mid-season last year and played mostly in New Hampshire.
Two Blue Jays prospects have gotten recognition by MLB.com as being among the Top 10 prospects at their position. The first to be announced was Daniel Norris who was named the third-best left-handed pitching prospect. Behind the plate, 11th overall pick from 2014, Max Pentecost was named the #10 prospect at the position despite only playing in about 30 games last year. Jim Callis, who made the list, didn’t put Aaron Sanchez on the right-handed pitching list, mainly because, he sees him more as a reliever than a starter.
Finally, if you haven’t done so already, please participate in our survey. We’re trying to find out what you love or hate about the site and want to hear from you!
