CIS TOP 10 TUESDAY (#18): Five McGill varsity teams remain in national rankings

202
CIS Top 10

OTTAWA – There are no changes at the top in this week’s CIS national rankings and McGill University once again has five varsity teams in the Top 10, three of them on the women’s side. Remaining at No.2 in the nation are the hockey (11-3) and basketball (8-0) Martlets. The hockey Redmen (17-5) stayed in the No.8 spot, while the idle swim team remained No.8 on the women’s side and ninth on the men’s side.

Windsor (women’s basketball), Ottawa (men’s basketball), Montreal (women’s hockey), Alberta (men’s hockey), UBC Okanagan (women’s volleyball), McMaster (men’s volleyball), UBC (women’s & men’s swimming), Toronto (women’s track & field), Guelph (men’s track & field), Brock (women’s wrestling) and Fraser Valley (men’s wrestling) all hold on to their No. 1 status in the new polls.

One of the best matchups of the coming weekend will see the top two women’s hockey teams in the country – Montreal (12-2) and McGill (11-3) – face off on Friday night at the U of M. The top-ranked Carabins, who were edged by their cross-town rivals in double overtime in last year’s CIS final, have won two of three head-to-head meetings this regular season, including 5-2 (Nov. 21) and 6-4 (Jan. 18) victories and a 3-0 loss (Oct. 24).
