(ISN) – VICTORIA, B.C. – The University of Victoria Vikes men’s and women’s soccer teams are leaving in just under a week’s time for their annual Florida exhibition tour. Both teams will head south for three exhibition games and training on NCAA top-notch facilities throughout Feb. 3-14.

The Vikes men will play games against NCAA schools Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast and St. Thomas.

“We have played all of these teams before and, in particular, we have played Florida Atlantic for 27 years now,” said Vikes men’s soccer head coach Bruce Wilson. “We have a great relationship with (Florida Atlantic) and we play them and they let us train at their facility. We always look forward to this game and tour.”

The Vikes will also make the three hour drive to Fort Myers to play Florida Gulf Coast on Feb. 8, as well as heading to North Miami to play St. Thomas.

“We have been training every day for nearly a month now,” said a confident Wilson. “We have only been playing inter-squad games so the boys are raring to play some real games. The team is in excellent condition leading into this tour and we are bringing our top 18 players.”

Among that traveling list will be fifth years Alex Redpath, Cameron Stokes and Craig Taylor, all along for their final Florida trip as Vikes. Third-year keeper Noah Pawlowski, named a 2014 CIS First Team All-Canadian, will back the Vikes in net, while the infamous speed and skill of midfielders Cam Hundaland Craig Gorman will also be key to the Vikes’ success down south.

The Vikes’ strength will be at it’s biggest test upon the team’s return, as the team will fly back to Victoria on the eve of their annual friendly against MLS members, Vancouver Whitecaps FC. The Vikes and ‘Caps will play on Feb. 15 at UVic’s Centennial Stadium at 2 p.m. For ticket information click here.
