ATHENS, Ga. — Shacobia Barbee, No. 21 Georgia’s leading scorer, will miss the remainder of the season after having surgery to repair a broken bone in her lower right leg.
The team says she had surgery Wednesday, and she’s expected to make a full recovery and return next season. Barbee suffered the injury in Sunday’s 59-51 loss at No. 5 Tennessee.
Barbee, from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, leads Georgia with her averages of 11.6 points and 2.2 steals. A junior, she ranks second on the team with 6.9 rebounds per game.
Last season, Barbee became the first player in school history to lead the team in scoring, rebounds, assists and steals.
