(ISN) – LEXINGTON, Va. — Joining the Southern Conference and its member institutions, the Virginia Military Institute wrestling team will be participating in the league’s Headlock on Hunger initiative, earmarking the team’s Feb. 5 match against rival The Citadel as a donation night.

Fans and cadets can help join the fight against hunger by bringing a nonperishable food item or a cash donation to Thursday’s Southern Conference match in The Thunderdome, helping ensure that every child facing hunger will have enough to eat.

The first 200 non-cadet fans through the door to purchase a $5 ticket with a nonperishable item will receive a free red VMI T-shirt.

Led by National Chairman Jim Ross, WWE Hall of Fame broadcaster, Fox Sports contributor and creator of The Ross Report podcast, Headlock on Hunger is a national initiative that brings together the wrestling community, as well as public, private and sports organizations to help provide food for children who are dealing with hunger at home.
