(ISN) – (Halifax, N.S.) Dalhousie University presents our G2 Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, February 1, 2015.
Courtney Thompson, Basketball
Fifth-year guard Courtney Thompson is this week’s G2 Female Athlete of the Week.
Thompson had a double-double in the Tigers 70-63 victory over the Saint Mary’s Huskies on Saturday. She scored twenty eight points, grabbed 10 rebounds and had four assists in 37 minutes on the court. Thompson went six for seven from the free-throw line, moving the Tigers into a two-way tie for first place in the AUS with the Huskies.
She notched her 1,300 career point in the game and currently leads the AUS with 22.3 points per game, good for second in the CIS
A commerce student, Courtney is from Saint John, N.B.

Third-year outside hitter Kristen O’Brien is this week’s G2 Male Athlete of the Week.
O’Brien had 38.0 points to help the Tigers to a two-game sweep of the UNB Varsity Reds over the weekend. He recorded 11 kills, nine digs and three stuff blocks in Saturday’s 3-1 victory. On Sunday, he added a game-high 20 kills, plus 14 digs and three more stuff blocks.
He finishes the regular season second in the AUS in both points and points per set.
A native of Truro, N.S., O’Brien is a kinesiology student.
