Victoria scored two powerplay goals to win 6-2 over Red Deer

(ISN) – Victoria, BC- The Victoria Royals used their special teams to notch four of six markers in a 6-2 victory over the Red Deer Rebels on Saturday night.

Victoria scored two powerplay goals and two shorthanded markers in the win. Tyler Soy led the way with his first career hat-trick which included a goal on the man advantage and a shorthanded empty net marker. Chaz Reddekopp would notch the other powerplay goal, while Brandon Magee scored with a highlight reel shorthanded tally also. Greg Chase scored the other marker for the Royals. Colton Bobyk and Austin Adamson notched for the Rebels.

Victoria’s Coleman Vollrath turned aside 26 of 28 shots in the win. Red Deer started goaltender Rylan Toth who stopped 28 of the 33 pucks directed his way.

The Royals went 2/7=28.6% with the man advantage, while Red Deer went 1/6=16.6%.

Victoria will return to action this Monday to take on the Edmonton Oil Kings in a Family Day match-up with puck drop scheduled for 2:05 p.m. The Royals will then take to the road on Friday, February 13th for a three game in three night road trip with stops in Kelowna, Kamloops and Seattle.
