(ISN) – On Saturday morning in Abbotsford, Steven Jandric and Chase Dubois each had a goal and an assist as the Cariboo Cougars got back in the win column with a 4-2 win over the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds.
Jandric and Dubois both tallied on the power play, while Justin Almeida and Brendan Moore added even-strength goals for the first-place Cougars.
The 28-6-1 Cougars got a solid outing from Griffin Outhouse between the pipes. The Thunderbirds fell to 12-17-4.
On Sunday, a furious third period comeback attempt came up short for the Cariboo Cougars on Sunday as they dropped a 7-6 decision to the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds in Abbotsford.
Trailing 5-2 after 40 minutes, the Cougars rallied with four third-period goals – including three on the power play – but it wasn’t enough to salvage a point in the high-scoring affair.
Steven Jandric, with his second of the game, got the comeback started. Mitchell Williams, Colton Thomas, and Austin Gray also scored in the final stanza, but a pair of goals early in the third by the Thunderbirds made it too big a hole to dig out of.
Jesse Pomeroy also scored for the Cougars and Joel Patsey had a couple of assists.
The Cariboo Cougars head back out onto the road next weekend to take on the Vancouver NW Giants in Burnaby.
