ORLANDO – Two-time Olympic team member Audrey Lacroix of Pont-Rouge, Que., won the gold medal in the women’s 100-m butterfly Thursday to highlight a five-medal performance for Canadians at the third stop on the Pro Swim Series circuit.
Lacroix clocked 59.62 seconds with Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace of the Bahamas second at 1:00.71 and Lauren Quigley of Britain third at 1:00.89.
Samantha Cheverton of Pointe-Claire, Que., added a silver in the women’s 200-m freestyle clocking 2:01.16. Hannah Miley of the U.K. was first in 2:00.31. Danica Ludlow of Victoria was eighth.
Canadians collected three medals in the 4X100-m freestyle relays. In the women’s race, Pointe-Claire Swim Club and Team Ontario were second and third while Pointe-Claire added a silver in the men’s race.
In the men’s 400-m individual medley, Alec Page of Victoria came within a half-second of the podium finishing fourth in 4:23.83 while Christian Ng of Markham, Ont., was eighth.
Bronwyn Pasloski of Whitehorse was fifth in the women’s 100-m breaststroke and Antoine Bujold of Longueuil, Que., seventh in the men’s 100-m breaststroke.
