(ISN) – The club had only one game on the weekend, with the 3rds hosting Nanaimo Sunday (fields in Nanaimo were closed due to flooding). Velox fielded a strong squad with spares on the sideline, a welcome change from the fall when numbers were an issue – hopefully a sign of things to come for the spring session. The final score was 60-15 for VV.

This coming weekend, the 3rds travel to Comox Sunday, with a bus leaving from the club at 8am. The 2nd div women start their year Saturday, hosting Comox at 10am. Other divisions are on hold in order to avoid conflicts with Vegas 7’s.

On the topic of Vegas, two Velox men are on their way to the tournament to represent the BC U23 7’s squad: Josh Oden and Jason Gagnier. The club donated part of the proceeds from last week’s player auction to them, and the winner of the player auction (Pickup) was also generous enough to add $400 from his winnings. Good luck to both of you this weekend! Word has it that Duck will be there for the tournament to make sure they don’t get into any trouble….

U20 Canadian Players Looking For Lodging

Rugby Canada is looking for anyone with room for 1 or 2 U20 Canada kids coming out in February to train before going into camp March 6th. They will be at the COE every day to train and work with the carded and 15’s guys. It would only be for a couple weeks before they head to Shawinigan to prepare for Romania and USA in March. They would pay a little rent. If interested please let John Lyall know.
