After a disappointing 22-21 loss to Kenya in their opening game, Canada has proven themselves as a team to contend with after upsetting 5th ranked England later on Friday evening, and then repeating the almost unthinkable by defeating the 6th ranked Argentine team handily.

In an earlier interview the night prior, Team Canada Captain John Moonlight was quoted, ““We said to each other after the loss to Kenya that one game doesn’t make your whole tournament. We had a couple of bad bounces.” Canada certainly atoned for those “bad bounces” in the last 24 hrs.

Johnathan Moonlight was first to but a mark on the board early for Canada with a speedy run down the sideline in the first half to out pace Argentina, who had trouble finding an answer to Canada’s stifeling line defense. Liam Underwood would add to Canadas’s lead late to end the half,  putting his team up 12-0.

Canada continued their pace early in the second half as Underwood, following Moonlight and Mike Fuailefau’s carry, would seemingly put the game out of reach with about 7 minutes remaining, taking a 17-0 lead.  Mike Fuailefau would take advantage of an Agrentine penatly and quick touch of the ball deep in their South American opponents end to dash in from close range to score a converted try and a 24-0 lead. Argentina’s Francisco Merello would score late in consolation to finalize the score at full time 24-7.

Canada (2-1) now plays USA (2-0-1) in the Cup quarter finals this evening ( Saturday).
