(ISN) – The Portland Winterhawks have signed 15-year-old defensemen Jake Hobson and Jackson Caller.
Hobson, a native of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, was selected by the Hawks in the third round, 65th overall in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft. He currently plays for the Prince Albert Mintos of the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League (SMAAAHL) where he has 21 points (eight goals, 13 assists) in 40 games.
Caller was drafted in the seventh round of the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft, 133rd overall. Caller, from Kamloops, British Columbia, has 17 points (seven goals, 10 assists) in 22 games for the Pursuit of Excellence Prep Varsity team in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL). He also suited up for three games this season for the Merritt Centennials of the BCHL.
“Jake and Jackson have both made great progress this season and we’re excited to have them signed,” said Portland Winterhawks General Manager & Head Coach Jamie Kompon. “Both have the chance to be very good players in the WHL and we look forward to having them pursue their careers with us.”
