(ISN) – The Aboriginal Sport, Recreation and Physical Activity Partners Council is pleased to announce a BC Aboriginal Provincial Archery Development Camp will be hosted March 7th and 8th, 2015, at Seabird Island Band’s Gymnasium in Agassiz, BC.
Held in partnership with BC Archery Association (BCAA), Fraser Valley Archers, and Seabird Island First Nation, this development camp is an opportunity for Aboriginal youth (First Nations, Métis, Inuit) ages 9-17 to learn and experience the sport of ARCHERY in a safe and controlled environment with quality instructors.
No equipment necessary. No experience necessary. All levels of ability welcome.
A sport relying upon accuracy and precision, archery is a sport featured in the North American Indigenous Games (NAIG), Canada Winter Games, and the Olympic Games! This is a rare opportunity to gain experience and exposure to this target sport and develop new skills. Thanks to the support of the Province of BC, the fee to participate in the camp is just $25 and includes lunch (both days). Equipment provided. Quality instruction. Who: Aboriginal youth (First Nations, Métis, Inuit) ages 9-17. Male and female.
Registration: $25/participant. Fee includes lunch on both days and a camp t-shirt. Participants must register by 4pm, Friday, February 27th. Spaces are limited and will be on a first-come, first-served basis so register as soon as you can!
General: Camp held at indoor facility – wear comfortable clothing/shoes. Lunch provided on both days. Equipment will be provided for those that do not already have their own.
Accommodations: If coming from out-of-town, participants and their chaperones are responsible for arranging their own accommodations. A variety of motel/hotel options can be found at http://www.bchotels.org/cities/Agassiz/.
Location & Schedule: A detailed itinerary will be issued to registered participants prior to the event. All camp activities will take place at the Seabird Island Band Gymnasium located at 2895 Chowat Road, Agassiz, BC. General schedule below.
