(ISN) – Prince George, BC – BC’s Team Tardi has qualified automatically for the Canada Winter Games semi-finals after being unbeaten in their round robin pool.

The rink, which hails from different locations across the province, won all five of their group games to top their pool and avoid having to play a quarter-final.

The team of skip Tyler Tardi, third Sterling Middleton, second Nicholas Umbach and lead Timothy Henderson, got off to a great start at the Games with comfortable victories against Alberta and Yukon. They faced tougher tests against New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island but each time the rink managed to play strong final ends to win.

On Thursday night, Team Tardi will take on the winner of Manitoba vs Alberta for a place in the final. The semi-final will be broadcast live on TSN2 at 7pm.

If they make the final, the rink could face Saskatchewan who was also unbeaten in the pool stage. The final will take place at 5pm on Friday and will be aired on the Canada Winter Games webcast http://sportscanada.tv/canadagames/index.php/week1/mens-curling.

The BC Women’s team will be hoping to be equally successful when they begin their pursuit of gold at 10am on Monday, February 23 against Nunavut.
